YAD Fridays open new doors for young adults

YAD volunteer Lisa Robbins wished she could celebrate Shabbat with others close in age and she wanted a way to welcome young adults, ages 21-45, into a variety of area synagogues to celebrate Shabbat together.

The Torah scroll, one of the Jewish people’s most sacred objects, has more than 300,000 handwritten letters. With a feather and special mix for ink, a specially trained scribe writes the five books of Moses on roughly 54 pieces of parchment. The average process takes over a year to produce the beautiful workmanship of a Torah scroll.
