Israelis play beach soccer in Clearwater


Despite the frigid temperatures during the first weekend of January, two professional men’s soccer teams from Israel – one from Hadera, the Pinellas- Pasco Federation’s Partnership 2000 community and the other from Petach Tikvah – participated in a sand soccer tournament on Clearwater Beach. Pinellas resident Gila Madjar and her family happened on the tournament during a visit to the beach and called friends to come cheer on the Israelis. The team from Petach Tikvah ended up winning the men’s professional division, taking home a $1,000 check. The tournament was sponsored by the Everton Soccer Club of St. Petersburg.
