Former JNF regional president Ron Oxman

Ronald (Ron) Oxman, 74, of St. Petersburg, died March 3.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, he and his family moved to Florida in 1986. He was president of Oxman Meat Co. before moving to Florida where he and his wife, Fagl, started a temporary labor service before retiring.

He was a member of Temple Beth-El in St. Petersburg. He was actively involved and a supporter of a number of Jewish causes including the Jewish National Fund, where he served as Gulf Coast regional president; Jewish Federation of Pinellas & Pasco Counties, American Friends of Magen David Adom (ARMDI); Florida Holocaust Museum; Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services; Menorah Manor and Philip Benjamin Tower. He was also a supporter of the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. He received many honors including the JNF Tree of Life award, the Yitzhak Rabin Memorial award for community service, which is the Federation’s highest honor; the Israel Peace Medal from the State of Israel Bonds and the American Red Magen David for Israel (ARMDI) Maimonides award.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Fagl; his children, Jeffrey, West Palm Beach; Shelly and Keith Victor, Loveland, OH; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Joannie Oxman, Milwaukee; two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Temple Beth-El or the Gulf Coast Oncology Foundation. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)
