Find your roots: The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will offer the second portion of its seminar titled “The JGSTB 2010 Guide to Jewish Genealogy Research: A Foundation for Beginners and an Update for Experienced Researchers,” on Sunday, March 14 at 2 p.m. at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater. Registration will be at 1:30 p.m. Instructor Dr. Emil H. Isaacson, who has 25 years experience in genealogy research, will focus on developing proper approaches and the necessary tools, techniques and shortcuts to garner information about ancestors.
The course is free to paid-up members. A one-year family membership will be included in the $25 course fee for non-members. An additional $10 fee will be charged per family for seminar materials. To pre-register for the class or for further information, call Sally Israel at (727) 343-1652.
Hadassah Mah jongg: The Chai Group of Brandon Hadassah is planning a mah jongg tournament Tuesday, April 13 from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Riverhills Golf and County Club in Valrico. Dutch treat: Enjoy a pre-Passover pizza and pasta Dutch-treat dinner hosted by the Ravak Singles on Tuesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at Galley Plaza, 3342 S. Westshore Blvd., Tampa. RSVP to SZRavak-owner@ yahoogroups.com no later than Thursday, March 11, if you will be attending.
The only requirements to attend Ravak events are that you are single and Jewish. Temple membership is not a requirement.
Support Groups
Alzheimer’s Group: The Alzheimer’s Support Group meets the first Thursday of the month from 4-5 p.m. at Menorah Manor in St. Petersburg. Facilitated by Gwen Kaldenberg, MSW, director of the Bresler Alzheimer program at Menorah Manor, discussions focus on the latest practices for the treatment of Alzheimer’s.
