EVA JUDITH BENCZE, 88, of Tampa, died April 4. She moved to Tampa six years ago from her native Hungary. She was a university language professor of French and Russian and was a Holocaust survivor. Survivors include her son, Dr. Steven Bencze, Ottawa, ON, Canada; daughter, Dr. Katherine Bencze, Tampa; five grandchildren. BEVERLY EXTER, 71, of Tampa, died April 5. She is survived by her three daughters; her companion Leon Blumberg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)
ROSE E. GOLD, 89, of Riverview, died April 10. Born in Philadelphia, PA she had lived in Orlando for over 20 years before moving to Riverview in 2003. She was active in fundraising for Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills, NJ. She is survived by her daughter Carol Balen of Riverview; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. ALMA STEINMAN, 79, of St. Petersburg, formerly of Tampa, died April 5. Born in Brooklyn, NY she was a retired bookkeeper for a jewelry company. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cindy Steinman of Tampa. (David C. Gross Funeral Homes, Beth David Chapel)
GREGORY WAKSMAN, 80, of Tampa, died April 7. He moved to Tampa in 1961 from his native Cuba. He was a founder and owner of Corona Brush Company, which he operated for over 60 years. A member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, he was active in numerous charitable organizations. He was a major supporter of the Tampa Jewish Federation and State of Israel Bonds. An ardent Zionist, he had visited the Jewish state nine times, including on a Tampa Bay solidarity mission during the first Gulf War. He was an accomplished artist. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Maria; sons and daughters-inlaw; Benjamin and Dottie Waksman of Seffner, Sergio and Karen Waksman and Albert and Susan Waksman, all of Tampa; seven grandchildren.
