Game day The Brandon Chai group of Hadassah sponsored a mah jongg tournament at the River Hills Country Club in Valrico. Forty-eight players attended, which also included a silent auction and drawings. Proceeds of the event went to Hadassah. Installation: The Brandon Chai Group of Hadassah invites members to attend its annual installation of officers at a brunch on Sunday, May 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the home of

Janice Perelman in Brandon. Brunch will include juice, bagels, lox and cream cheese, fruit, quiche, and coffee. Cost is $7 per person. Reservations can be made by calling Janice at 571-2029 by May 16. Guests are invited.

Pottery: Enjoy pottery painting with Hadassah friends at Color Me Mine in Hyde Park on Sunday, May 23 at 10 a.m. Paint a flower pot, iced tea pitcher, or any other item in the store. For more information and to RSVP, contadct Chana Rivkin at chanahinda@hotmail.com. Everyone is welcome so bring a friend to this Young Women’s Hadassah program.

Brandeis

New leadership: Installation of new officers of the Tampa/St. Petersburg Chapter of Brandeis National Committee will be held Thursday, May 13, at 11 a.m. in the Emerald Room at the Emerald Green Golf Resort and Country Club, 13903 Clubhouse Drive, Tampa. The Off-Stage Reading Group will present the one-act play “Sorry, Wrong Number.” The luncheon costs range from $20 to $25. For more information, call Margery Stern at (813) 961-3212.

Genealogy Society

Special speaker: Business systems analyst Clint Elbow will talk about the use of computers in conducting genealogical research at the Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay meeting on Sunday, May 16 at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater. A social with refreshments and library access begins at 1:30 p.m. and the featured program starts at 2 p.m.

In this presentation anyone interested in learning how to do Jewish genealogical research is invited to attend. For information or directions, call Sally Israel at (727) 343-1652.

Singles

Ghost tour: Join the Ravak Schaarai Zedek Singles group for an eerily entertaining candlelight walking tour along Tampa’s haunted streets. Discover the tales of ghosts, haunted houses, lost cemeteries and restless spirits from Tampa’s quirky past. Participants should meet at Indigo Cafe, 514 N. Franklin St., Tampa on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:15 p.m. in order to start the tour promptly at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $14 (tour: $13 tip: $1). You must inquire about where to send payment by emailing SZRAVAK-owner@ yahoogroups.com. Do not send payment to the temple. To attend you must RSVP and make payment — no walk ups will be allowed. All payments must be received by May 19 in order to attend.

Temple event: A social for singles 50 and older will he held Saturday, May 15 at 4 p.m. at Temple Ahavat Shalom, 1575 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor. Participants are asked to bring refreshments to share. Dress is casual. Call the temple office at 785-8811 for more information.
