Hadassah
Mah Jongg: The Tampa Ameet Chapter of Hadassah will sponsor a Mah Jongg tournament from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 30, at Aston Gardens at The Courtyards, 231 Courtyards Boulevard, in Sun City Center. The $28 per person registration fee will cover breakfast and lunch. Registration forms will be found on our website: www.tampaameet.hadassah. org. All proceeds will benefit Hadassah.

Genealogical Society
History program: A program on a new book about history of Ellis Island, from immigration port to deportation center to mythical icon, will be presented by the Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay on Sunday, Sept. 12 at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater. A social with refreshments begins at 1:30 p.m. and the program starts at 2 p.m. The program features a video of professor Vincent J. Cannato at the 2010 International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies Conference last month in which he discusses his new book: American Passage: The History of Ellis Island. Support Groups
Alzheimer ’ s Caregiver s : Menorah Manor ’s Bresler Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Program offers a complimentary support group open to anyone in the community. This group meets in the Samson Nursing Center, 255 59th St. N., St. Petersburg, on the first Thursday of each month from 3:30- 5 p.m. For more information, call Gwen Kaldenberg, MSW, director of the Bresler Program, at (727) 302-3750.
Bereavement group: Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services has scheduled a six-week bereavement support group beginning Monday, Sept. 13. The one-hour sessions start at 5:30 p.m. The group will be led by mental health counselor Renee Baseman, who follows the book Living with Loss, Healing with Hope by Rabbi Earl Grollman and integrates the Jewish response to loss. Baseman guides participants through the journey of mourning, healing and hope. All sessions will be held at the GCJFS offices at the Icot Center, 14041 Icot Boulevard in Clearwater.
