Do you approve of Atlanta Jewish Times Owner/Publisher Andrew Adler having to resign and sell the paper because of his editorial column suggesting, in part, that Israel consider having President Obama assassinated? :

Leadership training program for young adults begins fourth year

The Tampa Jewish Federation’s Young Adult Division will once again offer the Jewish Leadership Training Institute, with courses set to begin on Sept. 14.

The curriculum for JLTI will include speakers and workshops covering Jewish communal leadership, supporting Israel, personal leadership and communications styles, Jewish philanthropy, trends in Jewish life, and the dynamics of the Jewish community.

This season’s instructors include Bryan Glazer, co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Ellen Schuster-Nastir, certified professional life and relationship coach; Herb Swarzman of AIPAC and the Tampa Jewish Federation; Rabbi Richard Birnholz, senior rabbi at Congregation Schaarai Zedek; Gary Gould, CEO of the Tampa Jewish Federation; and Emilie Kuperman, director of development of the Tampa Jewish Federation.

The five-class series will run once a month plus there will be two social sessions. Each session will include a kosher-style dinner. The chair for this year’s JLTI is Melanie Marcus.

Following the course, participants will be invited to attend a graduation celebration with current YAD board members and community leaders at a special event in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Jewish Film Festival. The new graduates will have the opportunity to take on a community project and positions on community boards and committees. Each also will be offered a mentor.

Previous JLTI graduates have been placed on community boards and committees including Weinberg Village, the Federation’s finance committee, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and the boards of the Tampa Jewish Federation, Hillel School of Tampa, and Hillel Foundation for Student Life.

To join JLTI, you must be 45 years old or under. So far, 18 people have signed up for this year’s program. Seven spaces remain available. The cost is $72 per person.
