Do you approve of Atlanta Jewish Times Owner/Publisher Andrew Adler having to resign and sell the paper because of his editorial column suggesting, in part, that Israel consider having President Obama assassinated? :

Tikvah Talk program to feature speech pathologist on Jan. 24

On Jan. 24, from 7 – 9 p.m., Tampa Jewish Family Services will present the Lori and Alec Sanchez Tikvah Talk program on Auditory Processing Disorder.

The monthly program is designed to educate family members and professionals on issues related to children with special needs. January’s program will be presented by Henrietta Silverman, MA, CCC-SLP, speech language pathologist.

Attendees will learn about auditory comprehension, including acuity and perception, and learn what auditory perception is and how they can help children improve auditory functioning.

Tikvah Talk was recently renamed the Lori and Alec Sanchez Tikvah Talk due to a donation of $3,600 from Richard and Barbara Manners of Tampa. The gift is in honor of Richard Manners’ sister Lori and her son, Alec Sanchez.

“When we learned of the funding need to continue the agency’s Tikvah Talk program, we knew immediately we wanted to help, said Richard Manners.

“When Alec was born 19 years ago, our family didn’t know what to expect with a special needs child. It’s through educational programs, such as Tikvah Talk, that families are offered vital resources, hope and understanding in how to deal with life’s challenges,” Manners said.” Alec brings tremendous love and joy to our family, and we hope that many other families with special needs children will benefit from the important information made available through Tampa Jewish Family Services.”

Tikvah Talk is held at the Tampa Jewish Community Center, 13009 Community Campus Drive, and is open to the community. A voluntary $5 donation is appreciated. For more information or to register, contact Lydia Abrams at lydiaa@tjfs.org, or call (813) 960-1848.
