Obituaries

ELINOR KAY “ LYNN” GREENBERG, 77, of Houston, TX, previously of Tampa, died Jan. 22. She was born in New York City and attended the University of Pennsylvania. She was a volunteer for various organizations including the Jewish Community Center, Congregation Rodeph Sholom Sisterhood in Tampa, Hadassah, Seven Acres’ gift shop, Brith Shalom Sisterhood, Greater Houston Jewish Genealogical Society, Texas Jewish Historical Society, Red Hat Society and The Children’s Museum in Houston. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Maida and Albert Goodman; son and daughterin law, Mark and Jennifer Greenberg; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Stuart Luther; five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to Houston Hospice, Lucky Dog Rescue in Houston or Congregation Rodeph Sholom Sisterhood in Tampa. (Weinstein Mortuary)

MARY GREENE, 91, of Odessa, died Jan. 22. Born in Chicopee, MA, she moved to the area in 1950 from North Carolina. She was a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom in Tampa. Survivors include her son, Craig Scott, of Cary, IL; step-son, Dr. Stuart Greene of Temple, TX; two daughters, Gail Forrester of Cassleberry and Carol Rumrill, Wesley Chapel; 13 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials may be made to The Children’s Home in Tampa. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)

WILLIAM A. MAYBROOK, 78, of Tampa, died Jan. 22. Born in Chicago, IL he graduated from the University of Illinois and was a member of the ZBT fraternity. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and later worked for Lexington Homes and Concord Home as sales and marketing manager. He was past president of the Greater Chicago Homebuilders Association and recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award. He retired and moved to Florida in 1998 and was an active volunteer with Café of Life food bank in Bonita Springs and The Literary Council of Collier County. He continued learning, taking classes regularly at local colleges. Survivors include his wife Sam (Sharon) Maybrook; son, Andrew Maybrook, Washington, D.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Emelie Maybrook, of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Ruth Potasky, Phoenix, AZ; step-daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Paul Scalpelli, Plainfield, IL, and Michelle and Evan Kaufman, Tampa; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diana and Dr. Art Costin and mother-in-law, Lois Ashworth, all of Bellefontaine, OH; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
