Top Israeli dance instructor to conduct workshop in St. Pete

Dany Benshalom, a premiere Israeli folk dance instructor, will teach a dance workshop hosted by the Menorah Manor Dancers on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.

With his assistant and partner, Ruthie Slann, Benshalom will teach both old and new dances, along with some free dances that everyone can participate in.

He taught Israeli folk dance seminars for teachers at the Wingate Institute in Israel from 1988-2005 and is deeply involved in the preservation and teaching of the “oldies,” as well as teaching children. He has taught dance at a variety of schools in Israel and the United States. Benshalom has served as director of the Karmiel 10-day seminar for foreign teachers in Karmiel, Israel, since 2002 and at the Karmiel USA since 1996. He and his wife, Nogah, also run one of Israel’s most popular dance programs in the Kibbutz Giv’ at Chayim.

There will be a $10 charge at the door for the dance workshop.

For reservations, contact Dr. David and Janice LeVine at (727) 392-3683 or dlevine@tampabay. rr.com.
