Rabbi Hearshen’s formal installation Nov. 3

A special service to install Rabbi Joshua Hearshen as the new rabbi of Congregation Rodeph Sholom was to take place Sunday, Nov. 3, with his mentor and friend, Rabbi Martin Cohen, conducting the installation ceremony.

Rabbi Cohen of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center in Roslyn, NY, is the author of numerous works, including novels, prayer translations, commentaries and a children’s book. Prior to the installation ceremony, Rabbi Cohen was to lead a discussion on “Conservative Judaism in the 21st Century: The Politics of Spiritual Integrity.”

Rabbi Hearshen moved to Tampa with his wife Carrie and daughter Ayelet in July to begin the rabbi’s service at Rodeph Sholom. A native of Detroit, he was ordained at the University of Judsism – Ziegler School in Los Angeles. He served congregations in Mercer Island, WA, and Soysett, NY, before coming to Tampa.
