Obituaries

RUTH “COOKIE” NEUMAN, 81, of Tampa, died May 12. Born in Columbia, MI, she moved to Tampa in 1941, where she attended Robert E. Lee Elementary, George Washington Jr. High and Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduating in 1954, she attended the University of Florida and Jackson Memorial Hospital of Nursing, completing her education at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, graduating as a nurse anesthetist. She worked for 45 years, her last 31 years with Women’s Hospital. She retired in 2006. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Rod and Jill Neuman and Lon and Jenn Neuman; daughter-in-law Collette; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)

SAMUEL D. SHAINWALD, 86, of Tampa, died May 3. Born in Chicago, he moved to Tampa in 1994. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lucille; son Mark Shainwald, Skokie, IL; daughter and son-in-law Naomi and Joel Brooks of Tampa; and one grandson. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, the Arc Nature Coast, Hillel USF. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)

MITCHELL SCOTT STONE, 42, of Tampa, died May 6. He attended Young Israel of Tampa. Survivors include his wife Lilian; his three children; Gabriel, Sophia and Julian; parents Mark and Terry Stone; brother and sister-in-law Jason and Kim Stone. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)

HENRY ZYNDORF, 92, of Tampa, died May 19. He was born in Poland and was a Holocaust survivor. Survivors include his daughter Bernice Saxon, Odessa; sons and daughters-in-law, Sol and Naomi Zyndorf, Toledo, OH, and Andy and Ann Zyndorf, Tampa; and eight grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the U. S. Holocaust Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW, Washington DC 20024 or to Congregation Kol Ami in Tampa. (Segal Funeral Home, Beth David Chapel)
