#GivingTuesday phone campaign a success

The Tampa JCCs and Federation’s #GivingTuesday Phone-A-Thon raised nearly $100,000 in support of its 2019 Annual Campaign.

Chief Development Officer Alissa Fischel reported that more than 140 gifts were collected in just short of six hours. Lay leaders from all local beneficiary agencies and the Tampa JCCs and Federation participated in the phone-a-thon.

The 2019 Annual Campaign exists to make sure no one goes hungry and families in crisis receive the assistance they depend on; to ensure children and teens benefit from scholarships needed to receive a Jewish education, attend Jewish summer camp and connect with Israel and their heritage; to maintain a collective voice that speaks out against social injustice and anti-Semitism through advocacy and community outreach; to transform lives by improving quality of life and strengthening Jewish identity.

That’s what the Federation does – all thanks to the passion and generosity of community members here in Tampa, Fischel said.

Beneficiary agencies and programs benefitted by the Annual Campaign are: American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Birthright Israel, Bryan Glazer Family JCC, Ethiopian National Project, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, Hillel Academy of Tampa, Hillels of the Florida Suncoast, state Hillel Foundation, Israel Trauma Coalition, JCC on the Cohn Campus, Jewish Agency for Israel, Jewish Education Loan Fund, Jewish Federations of North America, PJ Library, Tampa JCC Preschool, Tampa Jewish Family Services, World ORT, as well as several other partners.

“It is with the help of our beneficiary agencies and the support of our donors and corporate partners, that we are able to respond to the causes people care about most,” said Fischel. “Thank you to those who answered our call and for pledging your commitment to our moral obligations to one another, the community we live in and to Jews across the globe.”
