The Tampa JCCs & Federation will celebrate the Bryan Glazer Family JCC’s fifth birthday with a weeklong open house and festivities Dec. 1-8.
The Bryan Glazer Family JCC houses a fitness facility and gymnasium, event venue, arts and culture center and the Mezrah Family Aquatic Center. The center is located at 522 N. Howard Ave. in west Tampa.
With activities scheduled throughout the week, experience a sampling of what the Bryan Glazer Family JCC has to offer, including fitness classes, an art project created by members of all ages; and karaoke with the Tremble Clefs, a therapeutic singing program for people living with Parkinson’s disease. There also will be contest giveaways and refreshments.
On Wednesday, Dec. 8, the community is invited to a concert by popular local band, South of Kennedy. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with food and fun activities. The band’s performance will start at 6:30 p.m.
South of Kennedy plays a wide variety of classic rock and dance music from a range of chart-topping musicians. The band include several members of the Jewish community: Jeffrey Berger on drums who is Tampa JCCs & Federation president; Meg Moskowitz, a guitarist; and Carlo Flanzblau on bass guitar. All three are members of Congregation Schaarai Zedek. Other band memvers are Sarah Meredith and Nicole Nouri on vocals, Steve Turk on guitar and vocals, Howell Morrison on guitar, and Bernie Desrosier on keyboards. Matt Jeffries from Chops Music Studio is the musical director.
