Lunch to feature Catholic bishop, Israeli non-profit founder in support of African water projects

A Luncheon for Tikkun Olam will be held at Congregation Beth Shalom in Clearwater on Friday, March 31 at noon when Roman Catholic and Jewish communities come together, united in the cause to aid the needy in Africa.

The program will showcase the work of Clearwater-based Water 4 Mercy’s efforts to bring water, food and hope as they help make African villages self-sustaining.

Water 4 Mercy founder and CEO Nermine Khouzam Rubin will emcee and honored guests are Catholic Bishop Gregory L. Parkes of the St. Petersburg Diocese and Sivan Ya’Ari, an Israeli woman who won the United Nations Award for Innovation. Ya’Ari is also CEO of the Israeli non-profit Innovation: Africa. Both the Bishop and Ya’Ari have been instrumental in aiding Water 4 Mercy projects in Africa. For information on tickets, go to www.bit.ly/Water4Mercy
