Teen filmmakers a highlight of mini-fest


Move over, Fabelman, young filmmakers in the Tampa Bay area will be honored for their works reflecting on Judaism when the Teen Reels Awards are presented on Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Jewish Arts and Culture mini-fest.

The awards presentation will take place at the Green Light Cinema, 221 2nd Ave. N., St. Petersburg, and include showings of the top three winning entries. The films, about anything that is of Jewish interest, are up to 15 minutes long and created by teens in middle or high school from Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties. The competition is designed to give young students an opportunity to tell their stories while discovering and enhancing their skills as filmmakers. Admission free. Also at the theater the same night, starting at 8:30 p.m., will be Israeli Shorts & Shots, a montage of award-winning Israeli short films.
